Suzanne Rogstad

July 11, 1920 — December 18, 2017

Suzanne Harsh Rogstad was born in Cleveland Ohio on July 11, 1920.  Her parents were Hermoine Mitchell and Curtis Harsh. She was a beloved only child but also close to her Carlisle cousins she considered as brothers. Suzy graduated from Wells College in 1942.  She received a BS in biochemistry with the goal of becoming a scientific writer.  She worked as a lab technician during WWII. Suzy married Thomas Allen Rogstad in September 1942.  They met on Shoreham Beach at four years old. They were friends, antagonists, then sweethearts, and finally devoted mates and companions. Suzy was a devoted daughter and mother.  Her loving heart paired with her considerable skills as a household manager allowed her to become a loving and worthy mother and mother figure to her four children, three nieces, and one nephew all of who she came to regard as her own Suzy enjoyed participating in and supporting community organizations.  Closest to her heart until her death was the Congregational Church of Detroit Lakes.   She was also a member of P.E.O, P.T.A, and Library Club.  W.W.W. D.S.C. cross country ski group was a favorite social group. Suzy was blessed to be surrounded by the family she loved so dearly during her final days.  She died peacefully in the Cottages at Emmanuel Nursing Home on December 18th but will live on in our hearts forever. She is preceded by the death of her beloved husband Thomas Allen Rogstad.  She is survived by her children and nephew: Alice Hermoine Rogstad, Eugenie Rogstad, Marta {Pena] Harrington, Jonathan Rogstad, Karen [Pena] Borgeson, Kent Pena, Elizabeth Rogstad, and Elizabeth [Pena] Norby. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Suzy and her family are profoundly grateful to the loving and devoted care of Elizabeth Norby and her husband Michael in her declining years.
