Terry Lee Sorlien

Terry L. Sorlien age 70 of Detroit Lakes, MN died August 13, 2020 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN. Terry Lee Sorlien was born November 10, 1949 in Northwood, ND to Nordeen and Deloris (Nelson) Sorlien. He grew up and attended school in Northwood. He later graduated from Finley High School in 1967. Shortly after high school Terry started a career in trucking. He drove truck his entire life, retiring in 2014. On June 24, 1995 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Gunderson. They made their home in Frazee, MN. Terry was a very social person and enjoyed people. One of his favorite things to do was visiting with his old trucking buddies at the 59er Café in Detroit Lakes, He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; one daughter, Trudy (Pete) Hendrickson, of Moorhead, MN; two sons, Jason (Jess) Sorlien, of Montana; and Gene (Becca Johnson) Gunderson, of Callaway, MN; six grandchildren, Alex, Anjelika, Nevada, Kaley, Aiden, and Jonn; two great grandchildren, Emma and Charles; one sister, Diane Rutherford, of WA; one brother, Jeff (Bonnie) Sorlien, of Frazee, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be on Thursday June 24, 2021; 1:00 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. The West-Kjos Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
