Willis G. Froysland age 96 of Detroit Lakes, MN died February 2, 2019 at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing, in Detroit Lakes, MN. Willis Garfield Froysland was born May 1, 1922 in Audubon, MN to Sewall and Mabel Froysland. He attended elementary school in Lake Park, MN and graduated from high school in Audubon, MN. He farmed with his father until December of 1946. He then went to work for the Graver Tank and Manufacturing Co., where he worked as a certified welder and automated welding operator. He built storage tanks for the fuel and nuclear power industry throughout the central United States. On December 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Annabelle Murray in Detroit Lakes, MN. In 1953 he was transferred to the Eastern Division headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware. He then furthered his education by attending the school of Isotopes and X-Ray for Industrial Radiography in Cleveland, Ohio and Metal Testing and Inspection in Chicago, Illinois. In 1958 he became the supervisor of welding and quality control for the Eastern Division covering Maine to Florida. At this time they settled in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1978 a heart attack forced his retirement. In 1986 they moved back to Detroit Lakes, MN. He is survived by one son, Terry (Dana) Froysland , of Ponte Vedra, FL; twin granddaughters, Kimberly (Cary) Watkins and Kristine (Scott) Sipkovsky, of Jacksonville, FL; grandson, Terrance (Shannon) Froysland, of Surprise, AZ; eight great grandchildren; one brother Marlyn Froysland, of Centerville, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one daughter; two brothers, Russell and Kenneth; one sister, Gloria; and his parents. "In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association".
